Predator-Free Campaign records 1,000 kills!
This week, halfway through its 7th year, our Predator-Free campaign recorded it's 1,000th kill. The kill-rate throughout has been fairly consistent, averaging around 150 vermin each year, but the overall totals are: Rats 498, Mice 307, Hedgehogs 159, Mustelids (weasels, stoats, ferrets) 36.
This is a great result for protecting bird life on the course, also encouraged by the provision of bird feeders which are maintained by a small group of ladies. Various bait options in the traps have been used over the years, but this year we have concentrated on using Fix and Fogg peanut butter, with impressive results. The trap that caught the 1,000th predator (a rat) was trap no. 8, which is located near the bushes to the left of the white tee box on the 11th hole. This trap was donated by Robyn Orton, and in recognition of this milestone and her generosity, she will receive a golf glove and a sleeve of golf balls.

Introducing New Reciprocal Club
We are pleased to advise members of our new reciprocal club in Sydney, Roseville Golf Club.
Roseville was established in 1923 and has a rich history. Widely regarded as one of the most attractive private golf clubs on the North Shore of Sydney, with a beautifully manicured and challenging 18-hole course is enjoyed by players of all levels. The course winds through the top of an ancient sandstone escarpment, set amongst native bushland with breathtaking views of valleys and creeks from Garigal National Par and Sydney’s iconic middle harbour.
Just 20 minutes from Sydney’s CBD, Roseville offers the best of both worlds – a serene retreat with convenient access to the city.
Our reciprocal agreement is offered to members with full playing rights and up to a maximum of six times within a calendar year. A letter of introduction is required from Hastings Golf Club and bookings can be made directly with their pro shop.
If you are heading to Sydney and interested in visiting Roseville, please get in touch with Michelle Campbell for your letter of introduction and club information to make a booking.

Junior News
Recently a few juniors headed to Manawatu Golf Club to play in the Junior Masters Championship. Conditions were tough with rain setting in later in the morning. Even though this was a junior event all the 18 hole boys played off the blue tees making it challenging for younger ones. The experience always invaluable.
