Dear Guest,

November 2026

The Management Committee met last week, our penultimate meeting of the year.  This has been a year of change and challenge.  Not just for the committee in terms of closely monitoring the financial outcomes, but also in the initiatives we and the Golf Committee have introduced to members, notably the Gender Neutral Trial and the four new forward tees and how the membership has responded.  While both attracted a certain amount of comment from members, positive and negative, we are confident that ultimately the concession to designate tees specifically for the 18 hole women’s club day program and the pleasing comments from the many women who are now benefitting from the forward tee placements have given us the result we anticipated.

It is worth noting that policy changes and indeed course upgrades, are made on the understanding that they benefit the club’s membership as a whole – the majority.

We were most grateful to those members who attended our recent Engagement Session.  Topics covered included subscriptions, the development, health and safety on the course both in terms of playing hazards and the notification to members regarding the herbicide program.  The seven members of the Management Committee and Ben Simons who all hosted the session were well able to respond to the members’ concerns.

Our end of 2025/26 financial year results are now in the hands of our auditors and, as always, will be published in the annual report due out at the end of the month.  These results will be addressed at the AGM on 8 December.

Nominations for office closed on 30 October 2026, with three nominations received for the two vacancies on the Management Committee.

As nominations exceed the number of vacancies, a ballot will be held. Further information will be sent to members in the coming weeks, and I encourage all members to take part in the voting process.

We continue to await the development partners’ decision regarding their agreement to proceed with the development project.  The deadline for this decision is early December and, of course, as soon as we have notification from them, we will advise members.  As usual, Peter Clayton, chair of the development subcommittee, will report to members at the AGM and answer your questions.

Enjoy your golf.

Robyn Bell

President
